Nadeen & Carlye Nadeen & Carlye

At C-Unit, our qualified and caring staff keeps the dancers' mental and physical well being in mind at all times. To that end, we share a comprehensive program that goes way beyond simple dance instruction.

We encourage dancers to develop organizational skills, strengthen their reliability and commitment and learn to work well with all types of people.

The staff is relentless in challenging students to be the best dancers that they can be, but also to become the best people who will one day be contributing members of society.

Dancing, from the time that I could walk, has been my passion, my dream, my life. Always wanting to improve and learn new techniques, I’ve made sure to continue to train, find original material and bring the best and most dedicated instructors to our dancers. Opening a studio has allowed me to assist others in reaching their goals and dreams. Dancing conveys individual expression, but teaching others to find their paths to self expression has given me the most satisfaction.

I thrive on challenge; therefore, I take my role as Director, Teacher, and Mentor to students quite seriously. Wanting to expand the knowledge and experience of dancers in any way that I can, competition is a large part of this challenge. In addition, choreographers from L.A. and New York are sometimes asked to make studio appearances to encourage diverse dance techniques. I pride myself on giving students as many opportunities to shine as possible and when they do, I couldn’t be more proud. To that end, the studio provides opportunities for dancers to remain physically and mentally healthy.

Our Staff is dedicated to keeping dancers happy, challenged and able to overcome obstacles. When they do so, great improvement in technique generally occurs. I am dedicated to serving all of my students and their parents as best I can, while keeping the program goals in the forefront.

Raised in the DC area, Nadeen began dancing at age four. Under the direction of Chinese Ballet Master, Dawei Zhang, she was put on dance scholarship at the Potomac Dance Centre at age 12. Trained in classical ballet, pointe, jazz, and modern dance, Nadeen was invited by Liliana Andreu and Dawei Zhang to teach at the Potomac Dance Centre at seventeen.

She has danced extensively in summer intensive workshops both in the Washington DC area and overseas. In May 2006 she graduated from George Mason University with a BS in Maketing and a Minor in Photography. Throughout college Nadeen continued to teach ballet to both girls and boys of ages two and up in several local dance studios.

Her teaching style is lanuage based, assuring dancers not only learn the steps but also the vocabulary and meaning behind each movement. She joined with Carlye Flieder five years ago and is thrilled to share in the creative experience that is C-Unit.
